The Portsmouth Nuclear Site in Piketon, Ohio covers close to 4,000 acres.

Portsmouth Nuclear Site

Uranium was enriched for over 50 years at the Portsmouth Nuclear Site located 25 miles north of the Ohio River in Southern Ohio.

The massive project covered 100 acres under roof.

For decades the Department of Energy brought in high-level radioactive waste and ran it through the process buildings to extract the uranium, contaminating the site with all manner of radioactivity.

A controversial cleanup of the site is underway – as well as two new warmaking industries.
