ONFN engaged epidemiologist Joe Mangano to analyze cancer and death statistics in Pike County, Ohio.

All statistics were gathered from the US Centers for Disease Control.

The results were shocking:

• The county’s cancer incidence in 2010-2019 was 15% higher than the U.S., the highest rate of all 88 Ohio counties.

• In the 1950s and 1960s, county cancer mortality was 12% below the U.S. By 1993, the Pike County rate exceeded the U.S. by 32.8%.

• The overall Pike County death rate ages 0-74 is nearly double that of the U.S.
